The 5 Core elements of Hip-Hop

Hip-hop is much deeper than music, it’s life.

EXPRESS YOURSELF

  1. B-boying

Breakdancing. Moving to the beat, showing off your moves on the dance floor, communicating with movement.

2. MCing

Master of Ceremonies. Rythmic deliveries of words with a beat so people can listen and enjoy, maybe learn or dance. Rapping.

3. Graffiti

Spray painting art, pasting up stickers, tagging names. Visual art.

4. DJing

Disc Jockeying. Playing the records and choosing songs that work together, gets the people going. You must be very clever and have intuition. DJ’s typically make for good producers. Shout-out DJ Khaled.

5. Beatboxing

They bring the beats everywhere they go, can be a show by themselves or provide a beat to an MC. Beatboxing is making beats with your mouth. There’s amazing beatboxers who can do different genres of music but it links back to Hip-hop.

If you don’t know now you know.

Hip-hop is a core of today’s standards in fashion, music, art and culture.

Pay your respect where it’s due.
